📉 Market Insight: Solar Tariffs Hit 123%
The biggest news in the energy sector today is a massive shift in international trade policy that will redefine solar pricing for the rest of 2026.
The New Tariffs: Effective today, April 24, 2026, the U.S. has imposed new solar tariffs of up to 123% on imports from India, Indonesia, and Laos. This is a dramatic escalation in the “New Energy Trade War” aimed at protecting domestic manufacturing.
The “India Pivot” Stalls: Many developers had pivoted away from Chinese panels in favor of Indian imports to avoid previous tariffs; this new move effectively closes that “safety valve.”
Cost Implications: While domestic manufacturing is expanding, the immediate impact will be a significant tightening of module supply and another 10% to 15% increase in hardware costs for non-domestic arrays.
The Mueller Increase: Looking ahead, Mueller Roofing Distributors has announced a 5% to 8% increase on all steep-slope roofing and vinyl products, effective for shipments on or after May 4, 2026.

This division has gracefully evolved into it’s spinoff venture broadening its scope into complementary and adjacent segments of the construction industry, while still remaining family-owned and proudly headquartered in Walnut Creek, California.

AFER Hangang by Hyunjoon Yoo + Partners
Designed by Hyunjoon Yoo + Partners and completed in 2024, AFER Hangang is a premier luxury residential development located in Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu one of Seoul’s most prestigious and geographically significant neighborhoods. Situated between the sprawling greenery of Yongsan Park and the vast expanse of the Han River, the project is a manifesto for “humane” high-density living, moving away from the monolithic, sealed apartment towers that dominate the Seoul skyline.
The “Vertical Terrace” Concept
The central architectural thesis of AFER Hangang is the rejection of the “glass box.” Hyunjoon Yoo, a prominent voice in Korean architecture known for his focus on the psychology of space, designed the building to maximize exterior-interior fluidity.
Staggered Terraces: The building’s facade is defined by its deep, staggered terraces. Unlike typical balconies, these are large enough to function as true “outdoor rooms.” By offsetting the terraces, the architects ensured that each unit has a double-height void above its outdoor space, allowing for more natural light and a sense of openness.
The “Lawn in the Sky”: Each of the 26 units (ranging from roughly 200 to 275 square meters) is designed to provide the psychological benefits of a detached house with a yard. The terraces are intended to be private gardens, creating a vertical “green wall” when viewed from the Han River.
Optimized Views: The building is oriented to capture a “dual-view” phenomenon. To the south, residents have an unobstructed panorama of the Han River; to the north, they overlook the transformational Yongsan Park (the “Central Park of Seoul”).
